Frequently Asked Questions
Read some of the most commonly asked questions I receive regarding my services, business, and more.
If you have a question that I haven’t answered below, please reach out to me directly.
What services do you offer?
I offer a wide range of SEO and website services, including on-page SEO, technical SEO, local SEO, consultancy, web design, and white label SEO for agencies.
I also offer other niche services like website auditing, keyword research, and monthly reporting, but I tend to include these within my wider work. I can also assist with other marketing tasks where applicable, such as social media and email marketing, but only in instances where I can confidently offer help.
If you do not see your desired service listed, please feel free to reach out and I will assist in any way I can.
Do you work with businesses outside of the U.K?
Typically not, as I tend to focus on businesses based in the U.K and Ireland. However, I have worked with businesses based in North America and Australia in the past. Please feel free to reach out and I will let you know if I can help.
Do you offer link building services?
I don’t explicitly offer general link building or digital PR services for improving domain authority. However, I do offer consultancy for best practices for link building, alongside strategies to improve website authority.
Working with smaller businesses and websites, setting the foundations for SEO work is my priority, with link building generally following this once the website is in a strong position to do so.
I do see the worth in building links, especially for websites looking to climb against high-authority competitors. However, if you are looking just for link building services, please feel free to contact me and I will refer you to someone who can assist.
Can you help with Google or Meta Ads?
No, I do not currently offer Google or Meta Ad services. However, I can review existing campaigns and give insight for clients who wish to get a second opinion. Please feel free to reach out to me and if I cannot help then I will recommend you to someone who can.
Is SEO a 'one-and-done' service?
Not really, no. This is a common question I face when onboarding new clients. Google and other search engines are constantly changing and evolving, so what worked yesterday may not be the best practice today.
On top of this, just because you’ve hit #1 for a particular keyword does not necessarily mean that you will retain it. Your competitors may be constantly chipping away at their SEO which, over time, may allow them to take your top spot.
However, I do also think that there is a limit, especially for smaller websites, as to how much work can be done at one time. I often suggest a break for many clients after a period of time to assess the success of our work, giving search engines ample time to respond to our changes.
How long does it take to see results from your SEO work?
This is a tough question to answer and honestly depends on many factors (and a little bit of luck). I have seen the impact of SEO work in as little as two weeks, whilst also having waited 18 months to see traction on a particularly large website.
Realistically, the time in which you can start to see results through SEO depends on your industry, the size of your website, the types of keywords you’re trying to rank for, and much more.
This is the biggest reason why SEO is sometimes neglected or put to the side, as it does take time to build up your organic visibility, and many business owners would rather spend money on paid advertising to achieve quicker results.
What happens if we don't see any results?
A lot of SEO is trial and error. Google does not explicitly state how its algorithm works, so SEO involves trying different approaches in line with Google’s guidelines to see how it responds.
In some cases where we have not seen results, and after a suitable amount of time has passed, I may suggest that we change tactics. However, it is quite rare to see zero change in your online visibility after SEO work, as this often happens when there is a larger issue occurring on your website.
What is your standard onboarding process?
With most clients, I follow a 3 stage process before beginning SEO work:
- Initial call – Here we will discuss your website and aims, alongside giving me insight into your industry and desired audience.
- Strategy outline – After auditing your website and competitors, I will walk you through my findings, my proposed strategy, and estimates for times and costs.
- Sign on – Finally, after approval, I will send over my terms of service and checklist, which includes information on giving me access to the back end of your website and other data sources. I will then commence work following this.
How do I pay for your services?
I will send an invoice at the end of each calendar month for all hours worked during that period. Payment will be due within two weeks of the invoice date. This is outlined in my terms of service before proceeding with work.
I don’t set up retainers or ongoing contracts for any clients, as I often suggest breaks in work to analyse its success.
